Shakey (Shane) Byrne took the 2003 British Superbike Championship in style - but his greatest achievement was during the British round of the 2003 World Superbike Championship when, as a wild card entry for the Brand's Hatch race, he took on the greatest stars on the world circuit and gave them a beating that they will not forget for a long time. He was competing against the likes of Neil Hodgson whom he not only beat but in doing so won both of the races by a significant margin.
